My Story

Alex was a very intelligent person. From being a civil engineer to selling generators for Wagner he always surprised me with how much he knew. He had an uncanny ear for sound, he had the most elaborate sound system I’ve ever seen. He loved music and movies. While listening to or watching movies at his house it would make your chest rattle but the sound was clear. He also enjoyed coming to my band’s music studio. He always wished he could play an instrument.

Anyone who really new Alex new he had a good heart and would go out of his way to help people, especially on the trails. He delivered food for meals on wheels and donated his time to churches.
He helped me drive to Tennessee to get my Mom who was unable to take care of herself out to Colorado so I could take care of her. Alex was great around my Mom and was very helpful. He always made us laugh.

I would have to say his favorite thing to do was ride his ATV exploring the mountains. I couldn’t imagine how many people he met. He loved to talk to people and share stories. We explored many areas riding for miles.

I remember when he first got his forest service cabin in the area he loved to ride. He was so happy that he could ride right from his door step. He loved to cook and entertain up at the cabin as well. He really liked when I brought my guitar up and we would sing half the night. One year a boulder came down the mountain and crushed one side of the cabin. He was so bummed out about this. So I rebuilt the side of the cabin for him leaving the boulder where it lay. Framed the wall around it.

We spent pretty much all of our time together at that cabin. He preferred to be there than at his house. There he had friends and was always meeting new people.

Alex was a good friend and he will be missed.

Everyone that knew Alex knew of his problem with alcohol disease. I felt we were getting closer to rehab but not quick enough. This last year was very difficult with medical issues, colds, and prescriptions given by doctors. He spent too much time alone and depression made it worse. So this in the end was what claimed his life.
