With his family at his side, Arthur John Power passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 20th, from cancer, at the Palliative Care Unit of Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario.
He wished to give thanks to the women who helped his mother, Elizabeth Ann Power (nee Lee) bring him into the world on February 22nd, 1935 in the town of Regina, Colinet Island, Newfoundland. Attending his birth were Grandmother Lizzy Power, Margaret Linehan, Gertie Power and Vivian Power.
Art is survived by his best friend and love of his live, wife Olga (nee Stoyles), son Craig (Mandy) in London, son Arthur (Nadia) in Port Moody, BC, and daughter Danielle in Winlaw, BC, grandchildren Meg, Aiden (London) and Ronan (Port Moody), and brothers, Rev. Patrick Power, C.S.S.R., (Kansas City, MO) Maurice (Eileen) St. John’s, NF, and Aidan (Ann) Witless Bay, NF.
Art is predeceased by his parents Leo and Ann, sisters Hannah, Ellen and Hilda, brothers Albert C.S.S.R., Henry, and Francis.
At a later date, a celebration of Art’s life will take place in St. Mary’s Bay and his ashes will be spread on the remaining foundation of his family’s home on Colinet Island, Newfoundland.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Malthaner for his life-saving surgery 12 years ago, and Victoria Hospital’s Nursing Staff in Emergency, 5D and 6C for providing attentive and compassionate care during Arthur’s final days.
