My Story

Her name was Elizabeth Hutto Scott, and  was born to the parents of Homer and Louise Hutto   in  Mineral Wells, Texas.   She was the second oldest of her siblings,  her brother Gene and sisters, Linda Sue, and Janet.  A wonderful sister to all of them who loved and respected her dearly.   At the time of her passing only one sister, the youngest,  Janet  had survived to see her pass on.

After living a full life, Elizabeth Ann eventually gave her life up after bravely fighting emphysema for approximatly fifteen years.   Many times  in the past it would seem she would have succumbed, and yet miraciously she was like a Phoenix rising from the ash's.  Her will was so strong to live during those times she became an inspiration to those around her.   She was blessed with an extraordanry strength to over come  the weakest moments of her life.  Not only in sickness but in everything she did.

She took a job as a waitress when she was fourteen years of age to help support her family and eventually married Robert D. Scott a most charming and handsome sailor in the Navy.  They both  lovingly  raised five children from the oldest to the youngest,  Charlotte, Robert, William, Gene, Sherry, and Cindy.  Unfourtunatly Sherry their daughter was not in this world for long and would pass from heart complications as a baby , she was "called home" rather early.

Elizabeth's hobbies ranged from baking, sewing, gardening, shopping and playing the "slots", she loved that.   But,  perhaps more than anything she loved to watch "Wheel of Fortune" when she was able.   She was a "social butterfly",  even while shopping she would stop and chat to a stranger.  She loved dogs, at one time she was dubed as the "dog lady", she had so many, at times more than she could possible have time for.  In the end her constant companion was a little white poodle she named Lucky whom she saved  at a truck stop,  he was indeed lucky.   He paid her back as he became  devoted to her always taking his place dutifuly at her bed side until the day she passed.

After spending most of her time as a full time mother, when all the children were grown, Elizabeth was in her late fifty's  when she became a long distance truck driver .    She was small in stature, wieghing only 115 pounds and yet  took  what was to her the most exciting  plunge of her life to see the country, driving eighteen wheelers from one state to another for almost 10 years.   It was only because of her disease that she retired from the job she loved next to being a devoted mother.

She lived out the remainder of her last few years in the house of her dreams.   In those final years she enjoyed the fruits of her labor and her family as well which included her children's children and their children.   She was surrounded with love from all her children, sister, great uncle, nieces, nephews , friends, and husband,  Robert.

A very special lady who lived and made her mark in her own way,  We love you Mom and we miss you so very much.    Although you are gone, your memory live's inside all who love you, we hear your voice and your laugh, little things remind us of you,  not a day goes by you are not in our thoughts perhaps even more then ever.    Nevertheless,  we know that one day we will meet again to give you kiss's and hugs.
