ROBINSON, Cindy-Lee May 23, 1957 February 6, 2008 Cindy-Lee left us on a rainy, wind-swept Wednesday morning. While she serenely completed her journey, the stormy weather symbolized the turbulent emotions of the many dear family members and friends left behind to contemplate why such a unique individual was taken from us far too soon. Cindy-Lee was born in New Westminster, spent her childhood in South Vancouver and in the wonderfully rural setting of the Pitt River area of Port Coquitlam. A graduate of Douglas College, Cindy-Lee displayed a marvellous mixture of social activism and entrepreneurial spirit. From the early 1990's through to the arrival of her illness in late October `07, Cindy-Lee was a passionate and effective advocate with the Mental Health Law Program (MHLP) throughout the province; exclusively on Vancouver Island since 2000. Her many MHLP colleagues and clients" mourn her passing. A Green Party candidate in the Cowichan Valley in the last provincial election, Cindy-Lee continued her social activism to the end; she was a member of the Victoria chapter of the non-profit housing organization InnovativeCommunities.Org. While working on behalf of society's less advantaged, Cindy-Lee was not shy about venturing into an interesting array of business ventures. CindyLee predeceased by inspirational grandmother Dorothy Robinson and grandfather Merrill Robinson leaves behind father Neil Allen Robinson, stepmother Gladys, sisters Cathy, Cheryl, brothers Kenny and Donny, many cousins, nieces and nephews and birth mother Nancy Bedford. At her side for the last portion of her journey were beloved sons Bailey and David and sister Cathy. Also mourning the loss of this fantastic woman is her loving partner Hadyn Thomas and so many dear friends here in BC and across Canada. Her complexity was a large part of Cindy-Lee's beauty; she loved working with horses, the earth and the soul, yet found time for passionate debate on pressing social issues and she loved good jazz. To say she will be missed is a huge understatement; to know Cindy-Lee was to love being in her company. Notification of a party to celebrate this rich life will follow. 444076 Published in the Victoria Times-Colonist from 2/12/2008 - 2/13/2008. |
