My Story

Christopher Matthew Dillon (known the world over as Dillon) of Ottawa, Canada passed away suddenly Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Durango, Colorado. He was born in 1975 in Long Beach, California.

Chris was a member of the United States Navy. He loved adventure and treated the world as a gift to uncover. He traveled extensively and lived in many countries including Greece, Italy, Australia and Switzerland.
Chris never met a bank of snow too steep to snowboard or a wave too big to surf.
He shared the zeal for adventure with his beloved wife, Lynne, whom he met canyoning in Switzerland. After their first child Marley was born, they showed her the world and filled her passport with faraway stamps. Family members became accustomed to pictures of Chris, Lynne and Marley in front of Swiss mountains, sitting on an Italian balcony, hiking in the desert or transiting North America in their camper van.
He was excited to instill this sense of adventure in his newborn son Zephyr. Chris was a rare breed of soul who saw miles and distance as a formality to seeing family and friends. He saw more of this world in his short time on this planet than most people see in their entire lives.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Earl Dillon.
Chris is survived by his wife, Lynne, daughter Marley and son Zephyr Dillon of Ottawa; his parents Cathy and Mike Eaton; sister Alison Eaton Yancy (Clayton Yancy) and grandmother Sally Dillon of Houston, Texas. Chris also leaves behind friends and loved ones all over the globe, from the hills of Austin to his new home in Canada, and from the snow he loved in Colorado to the shores of Australia as well as the whole of Europe.
Chris's family would like to say thank you to everyone who has offered condolences, shared stories and reaffirmed what an exceptional man he was.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that you consider donations to The Wounded Heroes Fund. Contributions in memory of Chris may be made to The Wounded Heroes Fund, 3121 Standard St., Bakersfield, CA 93308.
