Ernie loved beauty! I guess this could explain how he whole heartedly pursed his graphic design schooling and career in both Kenya and India. All greeting cards he sent out were self made…really cut down on cost by the way …and we did all benefit. To Jackie Shimba.N-Ernest was always greatful for your never ending assistance in his career.
Green gates is the name he proposed for the folk’s farm in kitale.
Mum definitely misses Ernie as he was her greatest helper in Kitale. The handy man in the home, he sorted the electronics, vehicles, cows, maize farm, flowers, doves(I don’t see them anymore actually) ,workers, fence-practically everything.
Ernie loved driving and really did a lot of long distance trips with Tata especially when they were moving gradually after retirement to settle in Kitale.Everyone who knew Ernie would comfortably fall asleep when he was on the drivers’ seat.
Bobby can attribute his great driving to you, though you guys did these classes when he was underage and in hiding since I do not remember Dad or mum knowing this was happening. Great teacher hence you became! Now you know Karimi how safe you are.
Ernie loved fun and ‘henging’ was a favourite.Fle and you enjoyed a true brotherhood there and I am sure he feels the gap every day more so when he wants to wine and dine (Ps...Remember Kamama’s in Loresho…;-). I still can’t figure out how you guys could chat and laugh into the night so often.
Ernest was a fabulous dancer of all time. He loved to break dance, he taught me the moon walk but I resisted the head spin(hahaha)Other culprits were Davis and Sam.Kaspe and him brought the house down whenever they got down to lingala…earned us a few free drinks in the club….and a twisted knee for Kaspe(sorry sis).
Your warmth undisputedly went a long way in making your in-laws feel welcome into the family before and after marriage ….Diana and Willy can testify. While Tata was being very protective, you were busy bonding with each.Irungu you would have totally loved Ernest. Your nephews and niece have missed out on a great uncles physical presence but all know you.
We truly miss your loud laughter, the love you had, the spring in your feet when you walked (how did you do that?) and your full life. You were always so strong even when you were sick.Susan Shimba and Sarah Mudhune-Ernie was always / eternally greatful for the spiritual nourishment you gave him to the end.
Ernest we love you but God loves you more!
Rest in Peace until we meet again.
