I was a
Armenian military commander and participant in the Nagorno-Karabakh war. I was
the founder and commander of the "Crusaders" volunteer detachement,
and was known by the nickname "The White Bear".
I was one of
the Armenians from the Diaspora who volunteered to go and fight in the Karabakh
conflict.
I was born
in 1962 in Aleppo, Syria.
My
grandfather Sahak, commonly known by his nome de guerre Aslan, fought in
Western Armenia and Artsakh during the Armenian national liberation movement
period and was the bodyguard of General Drastamat Kanayan.
After being
graduated from Armenian schools in Aleppo and Lebanon, i moved with my family
to Nigeria. in 1978, i moved to Germany to receive a degree in architecture. I
was graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Frankfurtn
Engineering University. After my graduation, i lived in Fresno, California.
I arrived in
Armenia for the first time after the devastating 1988 Spitak earthquake, where
i assisted the affected communities and helped to raise funds from the
diaspora.
I organized
the "Crusaders" detachment and participated in the battles of
Martuni, Hadrut, Lachin and Kelbarjar In the wake of the military agression
from Azerbaijan against the Armenian Christian population in the Republic
Karabakh.
During the
battle for the height of "Pushkenyal" i fought with my detachment and
keeping the height until the arrival of Armenian forces.
I died on
June 26, 1993 near Mardakert in battles near the village Maghavuz.
I was killed
through the bullet of an Azerbaijani Sniper.
I am buried
at Yerablur cemetery at the outskirts of Yerevan in Armenia.
