My Story

Gen was born in San Francisco, CA. to John and Katherine Anfibolo. John was a teamster on the San Francisco docks and Katherine was a homemaker with 3 children, Dolores, Jake, and Genevieve.

Genevieve graduated from Mt. Tamalpais High School in 1936. She worked in San Francisco at PG&E as a stenographer. She met and married her first husband Kenneth Rogers in 1941. Although the marriage didn't last she had two beautiful children, Vicki and Kenneth (Mike).

After WWII ended, she married her high school sweetheart, Herman Christian Brandt,  in 1948. During WWII, Herman had served as a chief quartermaster in the Navy. Adding to Vicki and Mike, Herman and Gen had three children, Pete, Kathy, and Sonia.  After moving through various locations in the San Francisco Bay area, in 1964 they moved to the Santa Cruz mountains to raise their family. Gen worked for about 25 years at NASCAR as a bookeeper starting in 1965.

Shortly before her retirement, Gen lost her husband on June 10, 1978, 30 years to the day before Gen passed away.  After retirement, Gen moved from Santa Cruz, CA to Modesto, CA to be close to her family and focused on traveling the world visiting Russia, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Italy, Germany, France, Ireland, and the Carribean. When she wasn't traveling or with her family, Gen enjoyed golfing. She was a member of the Escalon Ladies Group in Escalon, CA and the Muni Niners of Modesto, CA. Gen enjoyed camping with her family, reading, and was always ready for a good game of golf.

Her life touched many people and we are all better people for having had her in our lives. She will be greatly missed and thought of daily.

                                                            May the memory of me
                                                            be a happy one,
                                                            May I leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.
                                                            May I leave an echo
                                                            whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
                                                            and bright and sunny days.
May the tears of those who grieve,
                                                            dry before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave
                                                            When life is done.

We love you Mom!
