My Story

Glenn Roy Shumate is the son of Oscar and Annie Shumate. He was born on 4 November 1939 in Carroll County, Virginia. He grew up and went to school in Coal Creek of Grayson County, Virginia. He was proceeded in death by his Mother and Father. Sisters; Francis, Carolyn, and Betty Jo and Brother Reavis James. He is survived by Sister Wanda and Brothers Sam and Harold.

Glenn had six children; Betty Jane, Glenda Kay, Reavis James, Jeffrey Lee, Shannon Michael, and Sarah Jean.

Glenn served in the U.S. Army for 21 years and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. His military service took him to Germany several times. Upon retirement, he worked in the Oklahoma Oil fields, Factories, and drove an Eighteen Wheeler.
