My Story

Hortensia was a loving mother, entrepreneur, educator and philanthropist who passed away peacefully in her home on June 11, 2013. The world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Hortensia have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor.

In 1979 she started her own home-based company with just a phone and a filing cabinet. Her passion and dedication to teaching students Spanish, her native language, helped her business grow to international heights as one of the leading training, translations and expatriate services companies in the world for nearly 35 years. She was also a community activist in the fight against breast cancer. As a survivor herself, she supported Beaumont Hospital’s Clinical Trials and volunteered in the Oncology division to educate patients and caregivers on the benefits of these treatments. She was also a lover of animals, and supported organizations that fostered and administered healthcare to animals in need. Hortensia was a passionate and loving person whose positive energy could light up a room. She loved people and had an open heart to everyone she met.

A memorial celebrating Hortensia's life will be announced shortly. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers donations can be made to www.HomeFurEver.com, a non-profit canine rescue.
