My Story

I am going to leave this space for my Grandfather. He wrote the most wonderful speech about my Gran and he managed to find the strength to read it at her funeral. I spoke to him this evening and he would like to make a few amendments, but once he has done them Gill will type Grans story out and email it to me then I will upload it. Please watch this space.

Just to give you a brief overview of the funeral service, which was very simple. The minister was called Eddie, he was great. The service was held at an Anglican Church called St Saviours just off 5th Avenue, Walmer. Granny was cremated. We all had a chance to see her before the funeral and she looked so peaceful and had a smile on her face which left us feeling happy. The lady at the funeral home said she arrived looking so peaceful and that they had not done anything to make her smile. This was truly warming for us all.

My Bumps - John Poppleton, Peter Bishop (Gran's brother) and my cousin Craig walked at the back of the coffin and my mom and Gill (daughters) walked in the front of the coffin. We sang 'Let their be light' - opening hymm. The minister opened, then bumps was very brave and stood up to tell Gran's story (4 pages), both my cousin Craig and I stood by his side to support him. He maintained all the way through and ended off with the most beautiful poem he wrote his wife 10 years ago - you will find it in the tributes section.

Craig then read something on behalf of himself, his sister Robyn and Gill (his mom).
I read on behalf of myself, my sister, my mom and everybody who could not be at the funeral.

We then sang 'Immortal Invisible' and the minister read something from the bible and closed.
Tea, coffee and yummy sandwhices and cakes after.

Bumps printed the most beautiful hymm sheets for granny and we had one printed for all family overseas. I would appreciate it if you could email me with your latest addresses - then we will send them to you. Please email liza@frenchtoast.co.za

I am seeing a clairvoyant on Tuesday and hoping my gran will come through - I saw her 11 years ago when my very 1st boyfriend passed away from several brain tumours and that women changed my life and made me really believe that there truly is life after death and that death is just a beginning to another life.

Love and light
