San Nicolas, Jose T. "David"

Surrounded by family, David "Tata" San Nicolas passed away peacefully on November 9, 2013 at his home in Linda Vista. 

David was born in the village of Inarajan, Guam in 1930, the oldest of five siblings. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1949, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1971. His brave and patriotic service to his country spanned 22 years, requiring duty in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.

In 1951 David married the former Cecelia Peña of San Diego, his bride for more than 62 years. He was blessed with a loving family including nine children, 25 grand children, 47 great grandchildren and countless friends and loved ones. David spent his final years in San Diego, remaining deeply affectionate toward his loved ones in Guam. Preceded in death by his son John and three siblings, he is survived by Cecelia, his sister Sara, his children, and their families.

A celebration of David's life and homecoming will occur at 10:00 am Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Mission Valley Christian Fellowship, 6536 Estrella Avenue, San Diego, CA 92120. Burial will immediately follow at Miramar National Cemetery
