My Story

Lillie, Mommy, Mamaw, Sister, Aunt

She was our Mommy, the big sister, the boss, the one to come to for advice or reassurance.

She was a very strong willed soul, bossy, always had an opinion, even if you didn't ask for it, very domineering and would get pissed off in a heart beat! She loved being right and if you proved her wrong, better be able to back it up!

She enjoyed spending time with family: her kids (as we were called), sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She absolutely loved, spoiled her grandkids and would have loved and spoiled her great-grandkids.

She loved CAMPING, It did not matter where that camper was, it could have been on the parking lot at the state police post, just as long as she was in it!

She raised 5 kids, while working full-time - either at a bakery or a factory of sorts. She taught all 5 of us to stand our ground, pick our fights and to make our own decisions. She taught us to use common sense and know the difference between right and wrong. She was tough love, hard core : "Because I said so" and you didn't dare ask why!  We are all still alive and not one of us, (knock on wood) have went to jail, so she did do at least 2 things right!!

She was just 56 years old,  when we found out that she had cancer, our whole world was flipped upside down. She was our rock, the table was turned, and now we had to be her rock. Everyone rallied around her and she did experimental chemo, three times and went into remission. Three years later, the cancer had returned and was in the lung and liver. She decided to do the radiation. After the second scan, the results showed, it had also spread to her bones. At this point in her life, her decision was: she could not fight anymore. She fought so hard, with so much force, and had taught us, YES, LIFE IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR, NO MATTER WHAT!

One of her last wishes, was to die at home, with dignity, no machines and the comfort of her own bed. For the last time, everyone rallied around her and we said our goodbyes.

After her passing, we learned, she had already written her own obituary! See, even in death, she is still bossy!!

Our Mommy, Mamaw, Sis, Aunt Lillie was well known and so many people loved and respected her. You could tell by the visitors at the house and funeral home. She left so many loved ones behind.

Or, it shows, just how much she scared the hell out of people!!

Much love,  Always on our minds, Forever in our hearts.
