Dear Team XMPie,
I am writing to share sad news - our colleague and team member, Marco Fabus from the Netherlands, passed away - probably from a heart attack late Sunday night NL time.
It's really tragic, as Marco was in his early 50's and could have had many more years of great life and, also, career achievements.
Marco is survived by his wife and his child.
Many of you know Marco, since he was with XMPie for quite a long time. He joined us from a job at a customer, landing a pre-sales job with us.
Marco excelled both in helping customers, maintaining relationships with them, and, not less important, transforming all of these to results-generating sales efforts.
While Marco did not have the finesse or style that people expect from a sales person, he had the ability to gain trust, to be perceived as knowledgeable and capable (and he was!), and as someone who can deliver results.
He had strong practical experience and knowledge about our technology and ways to use it, and he made excellent use of it in numerous sales situations that concluded successfully.
Marco created a wealth of prototypes, proof of concepts, and demo scenarios, that we will have to learn how to use.
I have been with Marco at few customer meetings and it was very clear that they trust him; he is their trusted entity in the room.
This is remarkable, especially, when it goes together with good sales results.
Since about two years ago Marco was given more direct formal sales responsibilities, and while this was new and different, he started delivering independently.
Many of the highly-visible results with LEO, GCO, and others in the Netherlands, Belgium, and the Middle East.
This is remarkable, and we will miss him.
Our thoughts are with his family, and we hope that they will find some comfort in knowing how much we appreciate him, and how much we enjoyed working with him and be challenged by him.
Orit and Yaron are in contact with Xerox NL, and with Marco's family, and we may have some further details in the coming days.
Rest in peace, Marco. It was a privilege to work with you, and to have you as a member of our team.
