My Story

My mom was born on a beautiful day in Rotterdam. She witnessed the bombing of the city in WWII. As she recalled, the street across from where she lived was completely gone while her side of the street was still standing. Her parents managed to find a home in a small town nearby where she and her family would live until she was old enough to start a life on her own.

She moved to The Hague and after some jobs there she started to work as a receptionist for the American Embassy where she met my father, a young marine who got stationed in The Netherlands. After courtship/dating and getting engaged they gave each other their vows and left to the US where my dad got his new assignment.

Unfortunately my dad died at a very young age and my mom decided to go back home, she needed the comfort and safety of her own family. While she did choose to settle here, she would never forget the life she led in the US. Part of her wanted to go back but the step was too big to take.
