Mike was born on June 8, 1942, to Walter William and Eunice Isabelle Collins. He grew up in Safford, Ariz., and attended Eastern Arizona College after graduating high school. He also served in the National Guard before marrying Barbara Ann Collins of Benson, Ariz. in 1965. They relocated to Wickenburg in 1970. He was the former owner of Wickenburg Tire Co. and a local gas station before retiring in 2008. Mike was a member of the Wickenburg Elks Lodge 2160.

He enjoyed hunting, exploring the desert, cooking and gardening. He was well known for his kindness to others and loved helping people out. Everyone was welcome at his home and faults were always overlooked by him.
