The extraordinary life of Mitchell Waller was tragically and abruptly cut short on the morning of Friday, June 28, 2013. Mitchell and his friend, Kevin Beach, both avid bikers, were out for a ride on Laguna Canyon Road when they were struck by a car. Mitchell died at the scene. Kevin, although badly injured, will recover in full.
Mitchell's entire family is grateful for the thoughts and prayers of all his friends and colleagues. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support that Mitchell's family has received.
Mitchell served in the Westminster Police Department for 27 years, rising to the rank of Chief. In 2011, he accepted an appointment as the Westminster City Manager and retired in 2012. He leaves his wife, Sally; children, Chase and Kiana; parents, James Russell Waller, Jr. and Elizabeth Ann Waller; sister, Victoria Brady; and brothers, Bryan Waller and Jonathan Waller.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, 3800 S Fairview Street, Santa Ana, California, on Wednesday, July 10 at 1:00 pm.
