My papaw was a unique kind of man. He was very talented in just about everything he did. He wrote poetry ,he was a gifted craftsman , and was a turqoise jewelry collector. He also collected old coins and had a huge train display set up in his basement that he was always buying new pieces for. He also loved sports. He played golf and was on a bowling team. He loved to go to baseball games ecspecailly the Reds and was a huge fan of Pete Rose. Infact he even wrote a poem dedicated to Pete Rose that my Mother and I stumbled upon a few years back. He also loved to go fishing and go to the local horse track and watch the races. He was definitly a Jack of all trades. He was a Husband,Father, and Papaw and was happy to be all three. Early morning on July 29 1988 as he was getting ready to go fishing, he died from a blood clot that went to his heart. I know that it has been nearly 20 years since his passing and I still miss him terribly. It does give me comfort knowing that he was there to greet my Grammy (his wife) when she passed away in 2006 where they will be forever together.
