My Story

         Odessa Shaw was born in Prescott, Arkansas to Mattie and Roy Hopson March 4,1923. She departed this life on Wednesday, february 20, 2008, 1:18pm at Athens Limestone Hospital, Athens Alabama.

        She was a member of Munn Chapel Baptist Church, Prescott Arkansas, and later became a member of Church of Christ, Rockford Illinois.

       She married Rubin Shaw June 12, 1943 in Prescott, Arkansas, who preceded her in death. She is survived by six children: three boys, Bobby ( Rosie) of Rockford Illinois, Billy ( Joyce) and Robert Shaw of Athens Alabama. Three daughters, Betty ( Kendrick) Horton of Athens Alabama, Lois of Atlanta Georgia, and Felisa Young of Rockford Illinois; two brothers, Hulan Hopson of Prescott Arkansas, Harley (Dorothy) Hopson of Hot Springs, Arkansas, One sister Lois (Jonath) McClure of Hot Springs Arkansas; grandchildren Brent (Andrell), their children Brenton, Briel and Chennel; Lashea, her children Alowna, Alexus, Alante and Alex; Fredrick, his son Rockim; Barbara, her son Travis; Anesia, her children Martavion, Deionte, Timothy, Telflon and Tanesia; Pamela(Ricky) their children Quindale, Ricky, and Tameka; Carlos, his son Devyne; Chrystal ( Greg), their children Charizma, Crissen and Charise; Jeffery ( Cheryl), their children Jaylin and Ciera; Yolanda ( Terrell), their children Tasanique, Shantaira, Talashea and Terrell Jr.; Kitra, her children Keandra, Kavon and Kalon; Charlotte, her daughter Malasia; Dantay, Jamal, Jemel, Jameca, Jamal; Omario ( Novita) their son Amari; Anthony ( Kieonia), their children Jonathan, Denesha and Anthony Jr.; Yolanda ( Nolley) their children Sha'Mia and Nolley Jr; Roshunda, her daughter Zariyah; Jolana, Richard and Ruben. Two favorite sistering laws, Lucille Mcduffie, and June Rose Reynolds, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mrs. Odessa Mary Shaw was preceded by her parents Mattie and Roy Hopson, her husband Rubin Shaw, son Andrew, daughter Helen (Vicky) one sister, Ruby, three brothers, Gene, Leroy, and Henry Hopson.
