My Story

Summer Grigsby was only 13 years old when she died in a fire. For most of us, the truth hasn't even begun to sink in: That Summer will never be able to grow up, she'll never be able to go to prom, get her first car, go to college, get married, have a family of her own. I guess it's true that the good die young. Summer didn't deserve to die; death came too early for her. Everybody else got out of the fire; why couldn't Summer have gotten out too? Some say it's all part of "God's master plan," but if there really was a God, he/she wouldn't have let Summer die. He/she wouldn't have ripped apart a family, ruined the lives of friends. No, I think this is just the result of a tragic accident. Do I think it's possible she could've been saved had firefighters gotten there a bit earlier and doctors tried a bit harder? Yes. Do I hold it against anybody? No. As long as we do all we can to keep her memory, to never forget what happened, and to use her story as an example of the unfairness in the world, Summer will live on.
Remember Summer.
