Ramsey Michael Gergis, 26, is the beloved son of Fikry and Anita, brother of Nadia and uncle and godfather of Logan.

His is adored and cherished by his aunts and uncles Farag and many more family members in Egypt and the Philippines.

Michael was born in New York, N.Y. on Nov. 16, 1982. He spent the majority of his childhood in Egypt attending Manor House British School where he made many dear friends. He attended Sunday school at the Heliopolis Community Church, where his family attended worship services.

Michael moved to Lakeland in 1997 with his family. With his sociable and friendly demeanor, he was able to quickly adapt to his new home and school. He joined the wrestling team when he entered Lake Gibson High School and graduated with high marks in history and social studies, his favorite subjects. He majored in public relations at Florida Southern College, and graduated with a bachelor's degree. He had two internships at the Polk County Museum of Art and later joined FSC’s wakeboarding team as a media liaison. Upon graduation, he worked in production at the Home Shopping Network in St. Petersburg.  

Michael’s kindness and compassion for others will always be remembered by family and friends. Michael is often described as the type of person that would, literally, give you the shirt off his back if he saw you were in need. He was always a devoted and helpful son, always telling his parents how much he loved them. He loved dearly his aunts and uncles and enjoyed his time in Egypt and the Philippines with them.

Michael is always described as sociable and likeable, even a playful jokester at times. His infectious laugh was the center of most family gatherings.  He was a doting uncle to many of his young cousins and his nephew.  

Michael was a gift to us for 26 years. God allowed him to be in our lives, even for a short time, to give us joy and happiness. He is joined in heaven with other family members, who also deeply loved him.

Although it is difficult to comprehend why God called him to join him at such an early age, the family is comforted to know that  he is surrounded by the angels in heaven and with aunt Lisa, uncle Fayez  and both sets of grandparents.

Michael will be forever in our hearts. We ask that you pray for him daily and keep your memories of his smiling face always with you.
