My Story

Ray was a loving, kind and generous man with a smile that truly reflected his heart and soul. Born prematurely in Columbus, Ohio he spent the first few months of his life in the hospital. As he grew stronger, he was able to be home with his family. Growing up, his passion was sports and athletics, a passion that would continue throughout his life.

As an adult, he traveled widely throughout the US. Many a time no one was sure what he was doing or where he'd been. Then he would show up for a visit or get on the phone and catch up on the latest news with his friends and family. He also got his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Florida International University.

He met Daphne in 2007 and they married on October 31, 2008. Together, they built a little haven of peace and love in South Florida, sharing their home with their cat, Sapphire. At times, they also opened their home to Daphne's son, Devon. They worked together and explored shared interests and travels to Texas, Las Vegas, North Carolina, and New Orleans.

A healthy and strong man all his life, Ray became ill in late April/early May and was diagnosed with lung cancer that had spread throughout his body. After brief hospital and rehab stays, he spent his last days being cared for most lovingly and warmly at the Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida.

His passing was peaceful and pain-free.....

He will always be remembered and loved!!

Donations should be sent to Hospice by the Sea - http://www.hbts.org.

Ray's fave quote: It is what it is!

10/18 - Sapphire, our kitty, is put to sleep due to liver failure.
11/29 - Our home is sold.
And so passes our life in Florida....all wiped out, as if it were a perfect dream that could not last.

Now there are only memories.....the sorrow is endless...
