Dear Daddy

Where did you go ? Why did you leave?
At times it's a struggle just to breathe.
They say you're in a better place.
I miss your smile, I miss your face.
It's just too hard without you here.
I need so much to feel you near.
Daddies don't leave their little girls.
Remember when you would buy me pearls.
There are so many things I needed to say.
What I would give for one more day.
One more talk, one more fight. Remember
when you made that kite. It came in third place.
I was so proud. Not of the kite, but of my dad.
Oh how I long for one more song.
Remember how you would play all night long.
I would sing. You would play so loud. However, we
would sound, we were proud. Over The Rainbow or
Let It Be Me, whatever the song, we were happy.
Loosing you was so unfair. I miss your eyes, your crazy
hair. There is no soul on earth like you. I miss all the
funny things you would do. Since that day you went away,
it's been so hard to find my way. You were always there
to make things right, always there to end my plight.
Remember when I lost my friend. I cried for days without end.
One morning you said to me, close your eyes and wait
patiently. You placed my friend right in my hand. Always
my hero, my superman. There was nothing you could not do.
Did you know how much I loved you? Remember all the things we did.
I sure hope I was a good kid. Do you hear me when I speak to you?.
The only person who would call me "Sue". The one to always dry my tears,
Take away my childish fears. I know no one lives forever but never could
I imagine us not together. Daddy can you feel my pain? My love for you will
never wane. Were you proud of the woman I became? Did you still love
me the same? It's just so hard tear after tear. Oh how I miss hearing you
say "dear". I will never accept that you went away. I tried so hard to make
you O.K.. Remember the night of that big snow storm. You picked me up
, I was cozy and warm. You drove right up that slippery hill, never dreamed you
would get so ill. I want to call you on the phone. I need you badly to come back home.
Father's Day is coming, do you know? Who will I call? Where should I go? I miss
saying the letters D-a-d-d-y, how does a daughter ever say goodbye? To the first
man she loved her entire life from the time she was born, when she became a
wife? The first man to hold her hand with pride. The first man to stand by her side.
When I got married, my wedding day, you were too mad to give me away. But I
wasn't mad because I knew eventually we would work it through. For our love
was way too strong that time apart would last just so long. Loosing yiou was not in
the plan. My little daddy, my biggest fan. I miss you more and more each day.
Never imagined it would turn out this way. Are you watching me from up above?
Can you still feel my love? If there is a heaven without doubt you're there. What I
would give for one more stare. But one more thing is without uncertainty, a
daughter's love is for all eternity. So I'll live on like you would say to do. In both
your grandchildren, there is a piece of you. But one more thing I need to say, you live
in my heart now come what may. With each and everything I do, I will always think
of you. I'll love you until the day I die. Never will I say" goodbye." So until the day
we meet again. I know you will watch over me if you can. There is one thing no one can
take from me. You are and always will be my Dear Daddy.
