My Story

Scott Jeffery Kirkpatrick was born Sunday, October 12, 1969 in Cleveland, Ohio to Robert Franklin Kirkpatrick and the late Deborah Ann Kirkpatrick (nee Harms). He had a younger sister, Shannon Leigh, and a younger brother, Shawn Michael.

He grew up in Cleveland, lived in Columbia, South Carolina temporarily, then moved back to Medina, Ohio finally. He met Sherri Lynn Bauer (Kirkpatrick) in August of 1991. Scott and Sherri bought a home in the North Hill section of Akron, Ohio. They moved into their new home on July 25, 1992. They had their first child, a daughter named Kaitlin Marie, on November 3, 1992. And they had their son, Kaleb Scott, on November 18, 1994. They moved to Saint Petersburg, Florida in May of 1995. Scott and Sherri were married on December 17, 1997.

Scott attended Aviation High School and the Akron Machining Institute. He worked for many years in the electrical wiring field. After moving to Florida, he learned the trade of carpet installation from his uncle, Fred Harms. And years later became sort of a jack of all trades in home and business remodeling.

Scott's mother passed away on June 29, 1997. Her death affected him deeply.

Scott and Sherri divorced on February 15, 2000. Scott had custody of his children, Kaitlin and Kaleb, for the next five years with the children spending the summers with Sherri. In May 2005, Kaitlin and Kaleb moved back in with their mother in Ohio while Scott stayed in Saint Petersburg, Florida.

Scott struggled with many issues during his short life. He was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder as well as struggled with alcoholism and drug addiction. He was also affected deeply by several deaths in his family including his mother, a cousin, an uncle, and his grandparents.

I believe that Scott was hurting so much physically and mentally that he was unable to cope with it anymore. He was only thinking of ending his pain and suffering. He did not realize that he was leaving two children, a sister, a brother, an ex-wife, and many other family and friends behind that cared deeply about him.

We all miss you, Scott, and love you deeply. We know that you are in heaven now with God and that all of your pain and suffering is gone. We wish that you were still here with us but we take comfort in the fact that you are with God. We will see you in heaven again one day when it is our time to join you. Rest in peace, Scott.
