REPASS: Antioch Baptist Church
To
his family, friends and acquaintances, the passing of Steven L. Kent Sr. was
not an ending but a beginning; not a time of weeping but a time of
rejoicing. A time of rejoicing for a
father, husband, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend who unconditionally loved
and enjoyed sharing life with his family and friends.
Steven
Lee Kent Sr. was born in Abington, Pennsylvania on April 17, 1953. Born to Odessa Kendrick Brown and William
Kent Sr., was called home on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Steven was affectionately known to his family
and friends as "Broadway" for his admiration of football great, Joe
Namath. Steve accepted Christ at
an early age and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church.
He
graduated from Upper Dublin High School in 1971 and continued his education at
Montgomery County Community College majoring in Business Administration. Realizing his love for utilizing his hands
and analytical thinking, he pursued his certification in welding, automotive
technology and hydraulic design at Lincoln Technical Institute.
Steven
worked for Florig Equipment Company for 20 years before leaving to pursue
career opportunities with life long friends at Triad Equipment Company, where
he worked until his departure. With his
30 plus years in the automotive industry experience, Steve proudly designed,
built and patented over 2000 specialty vehicles.
Steven
was a devoted and loving father who enjoyed nothing more than spending time
with his family doing everything from taking day trips to New Hope, family
gatherings (daily, weekly, monthly or annually), for any and all destinations,
summer trips to the New Jersey Shore, spending quality time with his children,
playing with his grandchildren, mentoring his nieces and nephews, and watching
his favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
He was a very outgoing and charismatic person
who loved to talk and never backed down from any challenges. You could always
count on his reaction to be, to purse his lips, gently close his eyes, shake
his head twice, look you in the eyes and say "Don't sweat the small
stuff", crack a big smile and say "It's on". No matter what the challenge.
He
leaves to mourn, his father William Kent Sr.(Lillian) and his wife
Acquaenetta. 6 children from previous
unions, Shawnette Jones, Collegeville, PA;
Alesha Baker (Michael) Lithia, FL; Stephanie Jaynes (Allen) New Castle,
DE; Steven L. Kent Jr., Cinkwae Lee and Cinole Lee (deceased), Norristown, PA;

Philadelphia, PA; 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a host of cousins,
nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
