My Story

     Tina lived a full and eventful life. Growing up in Royal Oak, Michigan with her adoptive parents, she was frequently found in the pool or a lake. She would fondly recall spending her summers in Walled Lake with her family. A bit of a wild child, she eventually moved down to Florida to raise her son Wesley. There she met Tim, who quickly became her best friend and great love. In September of 1980, they were married in a small ceremony in Florida.
      Three years later, her daughter Jessica was born. After leaving Florida, the family moved to California for a year and then on to Reno, Nevada. Tina worked odd jobs and continued her education whenever possible but spent the majority of her time with her children. Eventually, Tina moved with her family back to Florida to assist with her mother's illness.
     After her mother passed away, the family moved up to Detroit, Michigan, so Tina could be closer to her childhood home and family. A few years after living in Detroit, she was able to find her birth mother, Lucy Dudley living in Tennessee. After a short visit with her mother, she decided to move the family to Tennessee in order to rekindle her relationship with her mother.
      Tennessee was good for Tina, and she found peace in the relaxing nature of her surroundings and the frequent thunderstorms made her happy and reminded her of Florida. She spent much of her time on her computer, forming lasting friendships that eventually turned into real-world visits. Her daughter and daughter-in-law, Robin, were her closest companions. They all spent many nights out in the pool or shopping in the early morning hours.
      In 2007, Tina welcomed her first grandchild into the world, Hunter. Tina loved Hunter like no other and formed a lasting bond with him. She was a remarkable Grammy, and Hunter is truly blessed to have had her in his life.
     During the year of 2010, we found out that her husband, Tim, had incurable cancer. Jessica, her husband Jesse, Hunter, Tim and Tina all found a house in La Vergne, Tennessee to spend as much time as possible as a close family.
    January 2011 brought a tough blow when Tim passed away in the hospital, finally succumbing to the cancer that was ravaging his body. The few days before he passed, Tina was always by his side. The death was very painful for her, but she received help from her daughter and son, and was looking forward to the prospect of her second grandchild, due to arrive in March.
     When the new baby was on her way, Tina was right by her daughter's side. She helped welcome Genevieve to the world and fell in love with her instantly. There was rarely a day that went by when she wasn't holding her sunshine and singing and laughing with her.
     During this time, she had opened her heart to a man named Sonny, living in The Philippines. Together, they found many common interests and true companionship. She spent many nights on her computer and webcam, just talking and learning about her new love.
     In August of 2011, Tina started having increased health problems. She underwent surgery, and spent many nights in the hospital due to various infections and health risks. During the next few months, she was regaining her health and looking forward to the new year.
     In 2012, she developed a hernia due to surgical complications. June 26th brought around her last surgery, where they were able to repair the damage and she was recovering well. A few days later, she was recovering well. The early morning of July 4th, her daughter discovered her unresponsive in her bedroom.
    She was a good mother, grandmother, wife and friend. Her outlook was always positive and she loved her family so much. Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, music, movies and books. She would help out anyone she could and loved to sit outside and watch a good thunderstorm. She will be missed, so much.
