Tom was born on Christmas Eve, 1913 and had a twin sister Blanche.

Just a few months later his father, Harry, was called to War, and died at the futile Battle of the Somme.
His parents had been childhood neighbours and sweethearts, and his mother, Florence Emma was left to raise the twins single-handedly, initially having help from their grandparents but then as they got older having to care for them as well...

Blanche was to die at the onset of WW2 from pernicious anaemia, at the same age as their father.
By this time Tom had moved to Guildford for an apprenticeship with Pimms, and married Queenie Elizabeth Wheeler, with whom he had a daughter, Carolyn Jane, in 1946. Blanche had been their bridesmaid.

In 1970 Tom & Queenie moved to the Isle of Wight, where they had a long and happy retirement.
After his death in 2003 his ashes were interred, after a Bahá'í Memorial in the little chapel, at Spring Road Cemetary, pictured above, with his beloved mother and sister, in the plot which is also the Memorial to Harry Branson
