Wendy Kim was born on a Sunday, a very hard long labour. She was 7 weeks premature and weighed 4pounds 2ounces. From the start she was a very happy contented baby and as she grew into a little girl, her lovliness shone through.
Wendy could read at 3 and a half and draw pictures that were recognisable, it was obvious she was going to be a very intelligent child.
All through her school years she was 2 years ahead of her chronological years, but had to remain in her age group classes. However, work was set for her individually in order to keep her motivated, she easily became bored if she wasn't stretched.
One of her all time favourite lessons was drama. All through junior and secondary school, she loved performing, so it was no surprise when she joined a Saturday drama school for extra tuition.
After O levels of which she excelled at all 10 subjects,A level study began. It was whilst she was in her second year of A levels, age 17 that, she met her boyfriend. That was fine but the boy was not to her Dad's liking, with the inevitable rows. all this conflict was bound to have an effect on her sensitive nature.
It was with deep distress that Wendy informed me, that she couldn't remain at home but, in order to get somewhere to live, she would need to get a job. I tried my hardest to talk her out of it and to get my husband to see reason, but being an ex military man, you toad the line, he wasn't willing to bend at all.
So! I went with Wendy to the job centre, and luckily there was a job advertised for a civil servant within the Social Security at the town branch. She needed clothes to go to the interview in, which I bought her. I had no doubts but that she would get the job.
On the day of the interview she was very nervous but it was good news when she arrived home, because they'd offered the job there and then.
After yet another blazing row with her dad Wendy threw some things into a couple of dustbin bags and walked out with her boyfriend, this was July, the time she should have been sitting her A levels.
For 3 months I didn't know where she had gone, non of her freinds would tell me when I asked them.
