William Aloysius Brogan, Jr., 75, passed away February 7, 2010, after a battle with Lung Cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final days. Bill, known to some as Butch, was born on June 6, 1934, in WilkesBarre, PA. At a young age he & his family moved to Elizabeth, N.J. As an adult he moved to Daytona Beach, FL. A combat wounded veteran of the Korean conflict, he enlisted in the Army at the age of 17 and served with the 224th Infantry Regiment and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts & 1 Bronze Star Medal.
He was the post commander of the American Legion Post 248 (Colonia, N.J.) & Post 50 (Daytona Beach, FL). He was a member of the American Legion Post 270 (Port Orange, FL), The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 84 (Daytona Beach), The Commander, and later Adjutant of the Military Order of the Purple Heart in Daytona Beach, FL. He owned several service stations in Florida & New Jersey and was a mechanic for most of his life. He later found enjoyment working with drug dogs at K-9 security for Hank Nolin in Port Orange, FL. He lived his last few months with his daughter and son-in-law, Maggie & Ray Craddock Jr. (FL) He is also survived by his wife Irene; son & daughter-in-law James & Sarah Brogan (FL); daughters Kate Brogan-Haas (OH), Mary & Paul O'Hayon-Ankney (PA), and Bianca and James Brogan-Yasika (FL); As well as Helene & Warren Nahulak (NJ); Walter & Vickey Kulaga (NJ); and Fred & Jacqui Kulaga (England); Sisters Mary Ann Doty (PA); Teresa Weiss (NJ); Judy & Ed Boone (NJ); Beth & Glenn Iverson (PA); Kate & Bob Fettweis (NJ); 11 Grand-Daughters; 7 Grandsons; 9 Great Grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asks a donation be made in his name to Disabled American Veterans, Humane Society and American Cancer Society.
