“May we live in peace without weeping. May our joy outline the lives we touch without ceasing. And may our love fill the world, angel wings tenderly beating."
~Irish Blessing~

The Broken Chain
We little knew that evening that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly, In death we will do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our chain of love is broken, and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
The Tree of Life
by Lisa O. Engelhardt
If I could grow a tree for you,
I'd water it with tears,
And nurture it with memories
gathered through the years
Grounded in firm values
this tree would find its roots
And from its legacy of love
would grow the sweetest fruits.
Ever branching outward,
its canopy would swell,
A living, loving tribute
to a life lived full and well.
Finally, its leaves would reach
the floor of heaven, and then
I'd climb up on its branches...
just to hold you once again.
For Aimee,
If it be I grow frail and weak,
And the pain wakes me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle can’t be won.
You will be sad and I’ll understand,
Don’t let your grief then stay your hand,
For this day more than all the rest,
Your love and friendship shall stand the test.
We’ve had so many happy years,
What is to come will hold no fears,
You do not want me to suffer any longer, so,
Now that the time has come, please let me go.
I know in time, you too will see,
It is a kindness you do for me,
Although my hand its last has waved,
From the terrible pain, I’ve been saved.
Perhaps one day we’ll understand
Why God decided to take your hand
And lead you into Heaven above
surrounded by his tender love.
Never will a day pass by
that we won’t ask the question why?
Why did God take our precious one?
Was it something we had done?
We mourn for the things that will not be,
for the things with you, we'll never see.
the fun and laughter we'll never share,
for special times when you won't be there.
No more to see your smiling face,
Nothing will ever take its place,
In our hearts you will always stay,
While we await that 'One Sweet Day'.
That 'One Sweet Day' in Heaven above,
Where we will meet and affirm our love.
Once more our arms will hold you tight,
As in God's presence we'll reunite.
Until that day, we must live our lives
Ensuring each memory of you survives,
And feel your presence, ever near,
each time we shed each painful tear.
"See you in Heaven", you'll hear us say,
as you watch over us every day,
Then when our lives on earth are done
We know you'll be the one to come.
You'll take us gently by the hand,
and lead us to God's Heavenly land,
where all together we will be,
united once more, friends and family.
