My Story

Kevin Magennis is my father he was born in melb jan 21 1932 oif irish and spanish decent to Patrick and Ileene Magennis formaly Ockeaf they had 4 boys Kevin was the secound son John was the eldest and then Des who is now father Des Magennis who is semi retired and lives in Moonee Ponds and the youngest son Tony who live in SouthYarra they all lived in Gilbertson st in Essendon were they all were educated at the christian brothers. Kevin met and married Joan teresa Thomas of Hawke st Nth melb they were married at St Marys star of the sea in Nth Melbourne on the 25th october 1958.. Kevin and Joan then lived in Oak st Airportwest were there first child was born Annemaree at the Mercy hospital in Melb on the 2nd sep 1959 Kevin worked as aa clark for the hibernians and in 1961 there secound son Bernard patrick was born also at the mercy hospital with in 18mths there third child John damian was born 28th of may 1963 followed by there fouth son Michael kevin in 1964 born at Mercy hospital also Kevin decided to move his family to the Western District to the quaint sea side spot Portfairy were Kevin was a life insurance inspecter the family were very happy living there and all the childrean attended St Pats then in 1966 November 30 young Peter francis was born and the Magennis clan was completed In 1969 the family moved back to Melbourne and lived in Fernycreek in the Dandenongs they stayed there for 2 years then moved to Greensborough for a very short period late 1970 and then finaly to 62 Flannery ave Bundorra in 1971 Kevin was still in realestate and working for Brendon Doyal and ass Bundorra Kevins three sons John Michael and Peter attended St Daimans primary school Bundorra then attended st Joes in Abbotsford while Bernard finished grade 6 at St Marys Greensborough and then did his final schooling at Salitian colledge Sunbury as for Annemaree she attended Our Ladiies Heidelberg year 7 and then attended Macloed Tech around 1976 Kevin and Joan and Kevins brother John decided to go into a hotal in Heathcote while Annemaree stayed in Melbourne and was imployed by Portmans in Bourke st and thats were she met and married in 1977 at St Marys Star Of The Sea in Nth Melb and had three childrean Christian Rebecca and Joshua , mean while Kevin and Joan ran the pub in Heathcote then in 1983 they moved back to melb and Kevin became a sales rep for curtains and they lived in Glenhuntly rd Carnegie Kevins son Bernard got married to Carol and they had a son Jacob and daughter Ashlee Kevins secound son John got married as well to Patricia and they had a daughter named Molly Michael and Peter eventully got married Michael to Jenny who had a son Sean and Peter to Janelle and they had 3 childrean jai Meg and Flinn so all up Keviin and Joan had 10 grand childrean childrean. Kevin left Melb and bought a pub in Bendigo named the McKiver hotal and stayed there for 5 years and then Kevin sold that pub and bought the Bemont hotal with his son peter in sceene st Bendigoi while his son Michael and eventully his daughter Annemaree worked there Kevin eventully retied in 2000 and went to live in Albury were in late 2000 Kevin was diognised with a tumer on the kidney he then eventlully had to go on life surport and passed away on the 19th of August 2001 Kevins funneral was in Bendigo and his mass was celebrated by his brother Father Des Magennis and he is burried at the Bendigo cemetary..As you can see Kevin had a full life he was a great sales man and publican and friend to all and he liked to move a lot.. Kevin leaves behind his wife Joan 5 beautifull childrean and his extreamly 10 beautifull grandchildrean and his 3 brothers. We love you dad and you are in our prayers godbless xoxoxoxoxoxoxox
