My Story

Artie Pender born September 22, 1954 in Charleston, W.Va.  Mother Lady Audrey Pender (died July 1997) father Arthur T. Pender (died Oct. 2002). Sister Sherry Blair (passed), Brother Phillip Rentz (passed) surviving sisters Adrienne Pender, Rebecca Draper (both in Akron, Ohio).
Artie has a daughter Ammie Pender Combs of Hazard, Ky. and a son Jeremy Pender of Ft. Thomas, Ky. a grandson Maxwell Scott Pender born December 2012, a step-son garrett Oliver of Williamstown, Ky. a grandson Jordan Fields born June 1991 and Megan Combs born April 2000. Artie was survived as well by Nieces Kaitlin Paige Adkins of Akron, Oh, Ashley Beth Adkins of Williamstown, Ky., Stephanie Lynn Brown-Woehler of Akron, Oh and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. Art loved his family with every ounce of life in him. He was never happier than when he got to talk about his son and daughter and grandchildren.  He was so excited about his grandson Max bron just before Christmas...he wanted to be a good "PAWPAW".

Art was a talented musician, drummer and guitarist. Many of you may not know this but he was also a very talented artist. Artie prided himself in performing, minding his own business, and being an awesome friend to anyone who wanted a friend. He was a good person with a BIG HEART. Music flowed through his veins and spilled over to everyone who knew him. He often asked "are you a Stones peron or a Beatles person?" To him there were 2 classes of people in the world Stones or Beatles. Figure it out. Art was a Beatles person.

Art battled his demons but always lived to battle another day.  After a serious car accident this past summer of 2012 his challenges took on a new face. There were problems he could not conquer but instead had come to terms with the eventuality of his death sooner than he would have wanted . We said our goodbyes on Dec. 27th in a 3 hour phone conversation. He was at peace. So to you my brother here is peace for you and rest in an eternity of heaven, whatever your heaven may be. I loved you brother and always will.  He passed away Jan. 9th, 2013.
