Avis R. Lindow, 87, of Oshkosh, died of complications from breast
cancer at the Waupun Christian Homestead on Monday, March 18, 2013. The fourth
of seven children of Henry and Alvina (Sonnenberg) Lindow, Avis was born on a
farm outside of Clintonville, Wisconsin on December 18, 1925.
For over 30 years she served as the Executive Secretary to the
President of National Rivet & Manufacturing Co. in Waupun, Wisconsin. A fitness
advocate who played women’s softball, danced hop polka, and practiced yoga, Avis also was an avid collector
of porcelain statuary and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Oshkosh,
Wisconsin at the time of her death.
Survivors include her sons, William (Christine) Fietzer and Terence
(Cheryl) Fietzer; two brothers, Wallace and Harold Lindow; and two grandsons,
Alexander (Nicki) Fietzer and Nicholas (Amber) Fietzer. Avis was preceded in
death by three brothers and one sister.
The family wishes to thank the staff’s of both the Christian
Homestead and Generations Hospice for all of their love and care.
Avis wished her remains be cremated and that there be no formal
funeral services. Memorials to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (2450 W 9th
Ave., Oshkosh, WI 54904) or to a
charity of choice, in Avis’ name, would be appreciated.
