William F. Vargo, 71, died of cancer at home surrounded by family on December 28, 2010. He lived in Murrells Inlet, SC.
He was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and graduated from Cathedral Latin School in Cleveland, Ohio.
Bill served as lieutenant in the Cleveland, OH Police Department for 31 years. He also successfully completed the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA.
His interests included boating, reading, marksmanship, and his family.
Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years Kathy Rankin Vargo; his three sons and their wives, Rick and Laura Vargo, Russ and Tiffany Vargo, and Billy and Kelly Vargo; and five grandchildren, Riley Vargo, Cecilia Vargo, Connor Vargo, Samantha Vargo, and Joey Markey.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 31 at 9:30am at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Garden City, SC.
