My Story

October 13, 2011 I had the pleasure of spending the day with my brother. We visited his favorite cuban sandwich shop, Norma's Ybor Cuban Shop. As usual he wore jeans and a t-shirt. He walked through the door larger than life; his presence filling the room. He nodded to the gentleman exiting the restaurant and stepped to the side allowing the old man to move past him. His order? A whole cuban sandwich with black beans/rice as a side, and of course 'sweet tea'. We sat in the back across from one another. He ate slowly and told me about his history with the historical restaurant. When we left we drove to Manatee county. We visited old homesteads he and I had shared. His excellent memory allowed me to see places I had long forgotten. We walked around houses which looked much smaller than we had remembered. We took photos on the seawall of the Manatee River. I am so thankful we had that day together. I miss him so much. He came to me in a dream the other night and he was healthy and happy. I will keep your memory alive for as long as I live Buddy. Thank you for loving 'your baby girl'. I love you so very much, and I am proud and honored to be your sister.
