Chris was born in New York City on January 21, 1930 to the late Basil and Aprhodite Zorbalas Pappas. He was a veteran to the United States Army. During his service he resided in Peekskill. On June 25, 1956 he began his 34 year career in IBM, Kingston as a system test engineer. He moved to the Kingston area upon employment and soon afterwards to Saugerties where he resided until his death. On March 29, 1990 he retired. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, the Thursday Nite League of the Saugerties Bowlers Club, a former coach in the Saugerties Little League and a player in the IBM Softball League. Chris was an avid Yankees fan. What was most important in his life to him besides his family was his Greek heritage. Chris was pre-deceased by his sister, Vivian Pappas Resvanis of Lake Ronkonkoma. Besides his wife of 53 years, Joan Carol Poli Pappas, he left behind three children, Catherine Pappas Barnum of Saugerties, James Pappas (Kitty Pappas-wife) of Saugerties and Irene Pappas O'Reilly (Bill O'Reilly-husband) of Clifton Park. Also, four grandchildren, Kahli Cassandra Bailey, Christopher Robert Bailey, Kimberly Annette O'Reilly and William Joseph O'Reilly all of Clifton Park. He also left behind a brother, Stathe Moraities of Montrose and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Chris passed peacefully on Tuesday evening, October 11, 2010 at 80 years of age after a short illness.
