My Story

MODRY, Dale Patricia (nee Lickfold),
age 61 years, born September 14, 1948,
died January 2, 2010.

It is with heart breaking sadness that our family
announces Dale’s passing following a tragic car
accident near Stony Plain, AB.
A matriarch of the family, Dale was deeply loved
by all of her children and their partners:
daughter Tamara Lorincz (Ben); son Derek
Modry (Sara); daughter Mandy Heschel
(Vince); and daughter Jennifer Modry (Mark).
Her grandchildren will always adoringly
remember her: Jade, Isaac, Jonah, Thor,
Samuel and William. Dale leaves behind her
close siblings and their partners: brother Alfie
Lickfold(Jenny); sister Tina Hayes (Pat);
brother Richard Lickfold; sister Vickie Frazier
(Mark);and sister Sheree Janke. Dale will be
deeply missed by all of her nieces and
nephews:Kai, Tessa, Hayley, Kristy, Fraser,
Jonathan, Jeremy, Amber, Lisa, Laura, and
Michael. Dale was predeceased by her parents
Alfred and Ruth Lickfold.
Dale possessed an immeasurable capacity for
love, compassion, understanding, generosity,
and friendship. She had an individually unique
relationship with all of her family members, and
her friends and acquaintances. Her ability to
connect with all whom she met and to make
them feel valuable and loved was revered by
many, including her entire family and those in
her many circles of friends, including her prayer
group, book club, golf group, bridge club,
mahjong group, and investment club. She was a
great lover of animals; also, if possible, she
would have cared for all children of this earth.
A memorial and reception to honour her life will
be held on Friday, January 8, commencing at
11:00 a.m. at the West Meadows Baptist
Church, 9333 - 199 Street, Edmonton, Alberta.
A gathering and tree planting to celebrate
Dale’s life will be held at her cabin at Pigeon
Lake this coming summer. In lieu of flowers,
donations can be made to World Vision Canada
or the Voice for Animals Humane Society of
