My Story

Dale was born the oldest of eight children and only boy on December 3, 1955.  Seven sisters followed in eleven years.  The family was very poor but made do with what they had.  Being Dale was the oldest, his mother relied on him to help out with the girls because his father wasn't much help.    He learned at a young age to work hard for what he wanted in life and to appreciate everything that he did have.  His grandpa Wrisley and him were very close especially since he had a strained relationship with his father.  The family moved around a lot mainly because of financial issues.  He always felt most comfortable in the country around the wildlife.  Many people may have not known that he was three quarter Native American (Cherokee, Chippewa and Osceoala Tribes), plus Irish, English and German (that's where Wrisley comes from).  Dale may not have been able to read and write but he sure knew how to read people.  He loved children and the older folks.

Dale was a bachelor most of his early years but got tired of being alone.  One winter's day in January 1997, his eye caught a beautiful young woman by the name of Stacey.  He was smitten immediately, she on the other hand not so much.  She didn't want to give him the time of day.  Kept saying that he wasn't her type.  But fate has a funny way of doing things.  Her car broke down and she knew he worked on cars.  While fixing a burned out fuel pump she fell in love with him.  They became a couple September '97, it was a whirlwind romance.  After a very brief courtship he was already asking her to marry him.  Not knowing if this would work out she took a leap a faith and agreed.  The following August 8, 1998 they were married at an uncle's house.

Things weren't always easy for them.  Money issues, mental illness, joblessness and even homelessness but they refused to let it break. them.  They had many happy times as well, always appreciated one another.  Dale was totally devoted to Stacey, telling her daily he loved her and never leaving the house without a kiss.  Eventually they chose not to have children together but had made big plans for a wonderful life as a happily married couple.  They were going to move to a warmer climate and have a nice home with a bunch of pets.  He loved being a handyman and she was learning to a screenwriter.

Unfortunately their plans were cut short due to Dale's unexpected passing the morning of  January 7, 2010.  It was very sudden, no warning at all.  The family was told it was a heart attack from too much smoking but having bad asthma did help either.  We all still adjusting to life without him.

Dale touched so many lives  He was a very loving man who would do anything for anybody.  If you knew him at all he called you sis, bro, mom or dad.   As his wife, the best decision I ever made was to marry him.  He always treated me with the highest respect and very protective of me.  I miss him everyday and don't want him to be forgotten that why I created this page.  We had a special bond, were the best of friends and even though he's in heaven our love for each other will never die.
