My Story

daphne matthews was a great mum nan and wife to malcolm you couldnt ask for a better person anyone every needed anything and my mum was there no matter what was going on in her own life , even in the last few days of her life she still made sure her family was ok , sadly in 1997 my mum was told she had cancer of her pancress and that there was nothing that could be done to save her at the time i was only 11 years old and needed my mum more then ever at a time like this growing up but as the days turned in to weeks i understod that i couldnt be selfish and let my mum suffer in pain with this cancer and i know that i could keep saying i didnt want my mum to die i all so didnt want her to suffer it wasnt right , the time came on the 6 november 1997 when the hospital told me and my family that it was best to say our goodbyes , so we did and at 12.32am on the 7th of november 1997 my mum past away no more pain , today we still remember my mum every chance we get and 4 years ago was a time i really needed my mum when i gave birth to my first child and my mums grandaughter on the 23rd of september 2004 and then my son her grandson on the 23rd of january 2007 , my mum would have been over the moon with her grandchildren and i know she was with me both times that i had them and that she is still with me today looking down on me and the children , i just wish sometimes that i could pick up the phone or just pop to mums with my family for a cup of tea and a chat , love you mum all ways will love colette megan and leland xxxx
