My Story

In a loving tribute to our father, David Clinton Tharp.

As a 101st Airborne paratrooper with the Five-O-Deuce Screaming Eagles during WWII, Dad would write, "My silk is my silent weapon, and the thread upon which my life hangs", revealing sentiments that resonate with all soldiers. As a decorated soldier receiving 2 Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, 2 Presidential Unit Citations and four bronze battle campaign stars, Dad rarely spoke of his war experiences. But he came back changed as many soldiers do. He was after all just a country boy at heart and wanted to return to his life before the war.
