Diane was born in Gastonia, NC she was one of seven children, she was the only girl. Her family moved around alot when she was growing up. She moved to Tabor City and that is where she met Kenneth and at the age of 14 was married. She had 4 children 2 boys and 2 girls. She managed to raise her children and then the first grandchild was born and she raised her as well. She took great pride in her family and instilled great values and morals in them all. Her grandchildren adored her with their every breath. Each grandchild had their special thing that only themselves and grandma did together. She took time for each one individually when she could. Whether it was reading them a book, brushing their hair, teaching them a song, playing Zelda with them, or teaching them about the family tree it was time they all treasured.
She taught a couple of them how to swim, she loved being in the pool playing with the kids, watching fireworks on the 4th of July, cooking those big Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, which we all miss so much. She loved the simple things in life and tried to teach us all that the simple things are the things in life that matter not all the money. She would say money can bring pleasure only as long as you have it, but the simple things can bring you pleasure forever. Be happy with the things you have and make the best of any situation.
You look at the sun rising or the flowers blooming and they remind you of her in some way. I still find myself excited over something and wanting to pick up the phone and call her. I play videos of her just so I can hear her voice. I guess she will never know how much she is missed and loved. So if you have loved ones still living, don't let that moment go by that you don't tell them how appreciated they are.
Stop bickering over the little things and live life to it's fullest.
Diane has one husband (Kenneth). Four Children (Jeff, Robert,Kelley, Michelle) Nine grandchildren (Heather, Alicia,Quincey,Forest, Gwen, Justin,Kendall, Jill and Sunshine) One great grandchild Cecillia Diane Fowler. They all were a major part of her life. Her family meant the world to her and family always came first.
A poem written for moms funeral:
A Special Mom
Mom loved us from our first breath, held our hands through the years, guided us along the paths that our lives took, taught us that there is nothing we can't make it through to hold our faith and follow our hearts. She gave us her all and asked nothing in return. She gave us all the stepping stones in life to become the people we are today, and through it all she stood proud of us all. Her family (husband, children and grandchildren) meant everything in the world to her. It will be hard on us to let her go physically, but we carry her with us each and everyday in our hearts and our thoughts. The sun rising will remind us of the warmth of her love. Flowers blooming will remind us of her love for life. Our trials and tribulations will remind us of how strong willed she was. There's a part of her in each and every person that hears or reads this and we can all be so honored that she was a part of our lives. We will always love you mom, wife, and grandmother. We will carry you with us each day in our hearts. We will mourn our loss but rejoice that you are in a better place sitting with your mother and loved ones, awaiting our arrival one day.
