Ron Manley was a kind man who knew no strangers. For as long as I knew him he loved to fish and hunt with his children. Any free moments he had were spent camping, hunting and fishing. He treasured all the time he could spend being a father and grandfather (even a great-grandfather!)
He didn't much like the city life I brought him to 34 years ago - for he was a country boy brought up on Lake Edgewood in Martinsville,Indiana. He absolutely worshipped his family - sometimes giving his last dollar to buy medicine for a sick grandchild. Upon his retirement from Hebrew National Foods, he devoted his time and patience to caring for his disabled wife and providing her all the loving care anyone could have. He and his wife spent most of their retirement camping at West Boggs Park (a total of 20 years) and currently at Ruritan Park in Montgomery,Indiana. He became known far and wide for his love of cooking - pineapple burgers, homestyle chicken and dumplings, homemade raspberry sauce -
even home made yeast bread on the barbecue grill!! I can still taste the raspberry cornish hens on the grill just last Christmas! Wow - I miss your cooking, honey! Keep practicing your cooking in heaven - cause we will all be hungry when we get there. We all love you and miss you!!
Ron was the kind of guy every woman dreams of - kind, caring, loving, funny, supportive!
He not only was a great father to his children Steven,Douglas, Chris & Valerie ManleyLage -but also to his step-children Keith, Kevin, Sherri and Mark Brown! He loved all the children equally and without preference.
He loved his friends and neighbors in the same way !! What a privilege to have loved him!!
