My Story

Floyd Hinkle was born April 09, 1931 in Corbin, KY. He passed away on April 20, 2009 at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, Ohio. My grandpa was taken from us because of a nurse who failed to do her job. At 78 years old, he was very active, he lived many years without any major health problems, in March of 2009 he discovered he had a blockage in his liver duct, he had surgery in April 2009. The surgery was successful, and he was able to return home. One night while recovering at home, he developed an infection from the surgery, and was taken to the hospital, he was kept overnight to get IV's. Around 10am the next morning, the nurse brought in his medication, he told the nurse that he was having trouble swallowing the pill, so she left the room to get something and he must have choked on the pill. He was resusitated and placed on a ventalator, but because so long had went by that he wasn't breathing, we were told his brain went without oxygen for up to 10-15 mins. He will be missed, our holidays will never be the same. We miss you grandpa.
