My Grandfather was atleast a SGT in the US Army his cloth rank sits on my dads tv, believed he was a Master Sgt but I havent got ahold of his records yet to make sure. He came down to Florida every couple of months, once he told Dad it was so he could have a cup of coffee. He was big on the jokes so you better be quick with the come backs. For everyone that knew him it was better to remember him the way he was before his cancer got real bad, b/c the last time I seen my grandfather (the night before he passed away) he was in real bad shape he didnt look like the man I knew, he held on just long enough for us all to get up there from Florida and then he was gone the next morning. Mom said I should of seen the look on his face when she told him I was headed for the Army, the look of approval.
