My Story

Hussein Osman Mansour died 8th January 1997, he was 70 years old. A well known Sudanese Journalist, Poet and Politician.

He lived the majority of his life in the Sudan where he was an activist to end the British rule. He studied in Law in Cairo, Egypt. He was a friend and special advisor to President Ismanil Al Asshari of Sudan.

As a Journalist he created the political magazine El Sabah El Gadid in 1956. He was a political prisoner and when he was released he moved his family to England where from he continued to publisher his magazine.

He married Adila Hassan Abdelghani in 1954 and had 7 children, El Shabbi, El Samowal, Kothier, Azba, Sina, Arafa and Yasir.

He had many illnesses but finally died of Pneumonia in London on 8th January 1999. He was buried in Khartoum, Sudan, next to his father in the family grave yard.

He was a remarkable man who was as comfortable speaking on subjects ranging from Politics to the Arts, from Religion to freedom and radical modernisation.

We will always remember him as a loving father whose first love and priorities were always to his family. He was a modern progressive traditionalist who sacrificed everything for his family.
