My Story

Life started for Jane in LLwynypia , Rhondda Valleys on March 23rd 1972.
A healthy young girl, who grew into a beautiful , funny, Honest and Caring woman.
She Married me on the 29th October 1993, after a two and a half year relationship.
People said it wouldn't last (me being 10 yrs older than her)how wrong they were.  Jane passed away a day  before.our 14th wedding Anniversary.
January the 11th 1993 ,our union was completed with the birth of Samantha Amy,and then Jamie Carl on the 21st March 1995.
Jane spent most of her working life in the leisure and Bingo industry, but just before becoming ill had gone into retail sales.
We had what most would call a lucky marriage, as we rarely argued(other than over the kids  like most couples)and were never jealous or possessive
We had 100% trust which is very rare.
Jane was overjoyed when sister Caroline had two boys Ben and Daniel with husband David.
They were to become the people who cheered her up when she felt down during her treatment.
Our lives fell apart on November the 3rd 2006 when Jane was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukaemia.
She fought an amazing battle without moaning or complaining, but the outcome was the worst imaginable.
From day one the care she received from the staff on ward B4 Haematology at the University Hospital Cardiff was beyond belief. Many of the staff who become our friends went well above and beyond the call of duty.
Jane's family and I are eternally grateful to you all.
We are all also overwhelmed by the kindness shown to us all by our neighbours when some scum burgled us four days after Christmas 2006, while Jane was in Hospital having treatment.
Even after she had major Neuro Surgery for a suspected Brain Tumour, you all kept her spirits up.
Shortly after we were all told it was unlikely she would survive after a series of fits, she  woke up and demanded tea and toast. This suprised all but her family and the gang on B4, who swiftly arranged her transfer back to their care.
I think it was then that we thought there may be a real chance for her, because of her strength and determination. Sadly this was not to be.
The amazing staff at the Haematology Day Unit helped her believe she could do it too.
The fantastic staff at Clarks shoes also gave amazing support.
There are never enough words to describe how I felt about her, but anyone who knew us well will know.
Family values were very important to Jane and the family came before anything else.
The amount of people at the Funeral is an example of her popularity.
Fifty Nine floral tributes and 140 cards speaks for itself , and completely blew me away.
The pride I felt on that day was almost as immense as the sadness.
Jane, along with Jamie supported Liverpool F.C, whilst Sam and I love Leeds Utd.
You can imagine the fun in our house on match days.
Jane's love of football probably came as a result of her dad Phil being a professional referee in the 80's.
Unfortunately a tragic mining accident put paid to that, and now he settles for being an armchair ref.
Imagine her pride when in his first year as a goalkeeper for the local team, Jamie collected most improved player award.
Sadly for the family she decided to ring them all at midnight to tell them all about it. Not the most sensible of people after a few glasses of Carling.
This probably explains why one night she came home with the branch of a tree after going out for a meal to celebrate my 40th birthday. Our two true friends Jeff and Julie were hysterical.
We never did get an explanation for that.
I always said of her sense of humour " you would laugh if the cats ar*e was on fire".
Just one of the many things that made her so special to everyone who knew her.
Samantha always made her proud with her beauty ,ability to draw and sketch, and shared mum's strange sense of humour.
Jane also had her mum Marion's ability to cook ,and between them they  are  responsible for me going up about 5 waist sizes over the years.
Without Marion and Phil, along with Caroline being so close , I couldn't have got through this.
Music was another of Jane's loves, and often went to live concerts- Tom Jones, Westlife, Blue to name but a few always made her feel on top of the world. I am so sorry for all the times I dragged you kicking and screaming to the Status Quo concerts, but I think secretly you loved it.
Getting your words mixed up and getting it wrong was common place, and would result in Me and the kids rolling about laughing at you. Sorry again chic but you certainly had lots of blonde days as you called them.
The joke was that you promised to push me about in my wheelchair when I got old, I would give anything for that to be able to happen babe.
Even after 18 years together, i still looked forward to seeing you everyday when i got home.
I'm so glad we always said " I love you" everyday.
Thank you Darling, for letting me have the honour of making you my wife, my lover and my best friend.
When I told you I would do anything to change places with you  I meant it. with all of my heart. You  still had so much to give, so much to do and so much to see.
On Sunday the 28th October at just before 4pm, my world changed forever when my precious girl fell asleep for the last time. Thankfully we were all with her to say goodbye.
Goodnight God Bless baby, until we are together again.
All my love forever. Mr G xxx
