Janet Lee Haynes was born to Cassie Mae Davidson and Arnold Lee Haynes on September 1, 1967 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
On July 29, 1984, Janet and David Whitlow welcomed their first child, Samantha Lynn Whitlow. Samantha, widely known as Sam, made Jan a grandmother for the first time with the birth of her daughter, Leah Marie Whitlow in Louisiana in 2006. Several years later, Sam made Jan a grandmother again with the birth of her son, Leeander Gregory Franklin.
On December 1, 1987, Janet gave birth to her second daughter, Malinda Maria Kormos. Malinda made Jan a grandmother for the third time when she and her boyfriend Joe Choma welcome their firstborn child, Brayden Choma.
On November 7, 1990, Janet gave birth to her third and last daughter, Samantha Alix Spiegel. Samantha was adopted by two loving and caring parents, Virginia Sue Lewis and Michael Ivan Spiegel. Jan and Virginia remained in contact for many years.
During the first week of November in 2007, Sam Whitlow, Malinda Kormos, Samantha Spiegel, and Virginia Spiegel traveled to Cincinnati, OH to finally meet one another. Sadly and tragically so, November 2007 would be the last time any of Jan's daughters would ever see her face-to-face again.
On December 29, 2010, Jan was found in her bedroom at home by her parents Cassie and George Thornton. By January 1, 2011, Samantha Spiegel was in Cincinnati to spend time with her grandparents after her death. On January 5, 2011, Janet Lee Haynes was laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH. Jan is resting in a tomb as close to the sky as possible so she can be closer to heaven.
Janet Lee Haynes is survived by her parents, Cassie and George Thornton; her grandparents Mary and Woodrow Davidson; her brother Scott Allen Haynes, her sister Terri Haynes Fryer; her step-brother Eddie Demerle and step-sister Bridgette Hernandez; her three daughters Samantha Lynn Whitlow, Malinda Maria Kormos, and Samantha Alix Spiegel; her three grandchildren Leah Marie Whitlow, Leeander Gregory Franklin, and Brayden Choma; her ex-husband David Whitlow Morgan; her uncle Bobby Davidson, her aunts Darlene Davidson Carr, Helen Davidson Simpson, and Linda Gayle Davidson Gorman; her nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Jan was a loving and compassionate person with a real heart of gold. She was the beautiful, talented, and bright daughter of Cassie Mae Davidson and George Henry Thornton and the loving and concerned mother of three beautiful daughters and three special grandchildren. Despite the difficulties she may have been faced with, she was one of the strongest people around. She managed to suffer through so much pain and many obstacles but always managed to pull through somehow. Although she didn't raise her daughters, she had true love for them and their wellbeing and she often showed her pride in being a grandmother. She didn't always get the respect that she so deserved—as a person, a woman, a mother, a daughter, and friend—but maybe now we can all celebrate the good she experienced in her life and learn from the hardships she was dealt.
You are loved.
