My Story

Jason was born at the Brisbane Mater Adults Hospital.  This was an unusual situation as most babies born at this hospital were born in the Mater Mothers Hospital Unit.  However, Jason was being delivered early by C-section due to a potentially fatal heart condition his mother, Karen, had.  In fact, Jas soon became known around the hospital as a miracle baby, becasue the seriousness of his mothers heart condition was only detected after she became pregnant with him; and both came through the birth without any other further serious complications.  Jason came into the world a tiny 4 pound 12 and a half ounces - but very soon gained in size and strength.
The first few years of Jason's life was quite nomadic.  Jas and his mother and father moved around Brisbane quite a bit living in Annerly, Kalangur, Braken Ridge and then Chermside.  Jas spent his first birthday at his Nan and Pop's place with his father and uncle, while his mother underwent her first heart surgery.  At 18 months Jas and his mother moved to Biloela.  During the 2 and half years they lived in Biloela Jas attended Biloela Child Care Centre, while his mother went back to school to get her senior certificate.  When Jas was 5 he moved to Rockhampton with his mother.  While his mother studied at University, Jas attended Elphine House Child Care Centre.
Jas began his schooling at Frenchville Primary in Rockhampton, this would be the same school his nearest cousin would also attend, for some time.  After First term Jas was relocated to a smaller school, as the large numbers at Frenchville were not to his liking or benefit.  He then attended Parkhurst Primary for 2 years and went to Parkhurst Child Care Centre after school.  In grade 3 Jas was enrolled at Warrabarra Primary in Gracemere, where he began to enjoy school.
Once Jason's mother finished her University degree they moved to Gladstone where Jason attended Gladstone West State Primary. Once completing Grade 7 he then attende Gladstone State High were he left during grade 11. High school was a struggle and during this time he stood by his mother through another 2 heart surgeries.  She was always proud of the way he helped her during those times and was touched by the way he worried over her.  However it was also during this tiime Jas made some real friends - Nic and Jon, these guys would be his friends until the end.  School was never much to Jason's liking and Hight School was no different.  In grade 10 Jas began doing TAFE coarses in englsh and maths.  After this he bagan a coarse with GAGGLE to help find a job.  Here he met another mate, Micheal, whom he thought a lot of.  During his last year of schooling Jas also worked part time at Pets and Ponds, which he enjoyed.   When Jas was 17 he went to live with his father for a while where he worked at a fiberglass factory making boats.  This gave him a great opportunity to spend more time with his Nan and Pop and Uncle and cousins.  During this time he bought his second car (the first car never left the farm).  This car was his pride and joy and he was slowly doing it up while he got his licence. Nic had also moved south and the he would often spend week ends with Jas getting up to all sorts of mischief.
Jas enjoyed fishing, camping, riding motor bikes, owning pet fish, lizards, turtles.  His best firend was his dog Misty who has also recently passed.  Jas had 2 cousins on his father's side and 5 on his mothers'(Jake, Brooke, John, Tamra, Ryan).  He also has a step cousin, Casey who he was close to.  On his mother's side he also had an older step brother, James;  and older sister Zoe, a step sister in law Sarsha, he was a step uncle to a niece Lateasha and nephew Jimmy.  He loved the children and always had time for them.  He really looked up to his step siblings and admired their independence.  He got on well with all his aunts, Michelle & Tullee; and uncles David & Rory; and loved his Grandparents dearly.  When Michelle and Rory moved to Gladsstone Jason had the opportunity to grow up with his couxins Jake and Brooke.  When Johnny was born Jas was very proud of his new cousin but was quite scared to hold him.  Although much older Jas adored his cousins and had a special place in his hearts for them.  Jas was also very fond of his other  cousin Tamra and when Ryan was born Jas was looking forward to getting to know him more.  He was loving, jovial, mischievious and quite sensitive.  He loved nature and being outdoors,  but he also enjoyed a good movie or playing games on his PS2.
We will NEVER, EVER forget you Jas.  You are forever in the hearts of those you loved and of those who loved you.  From the oldest of us right down to the the youngest family members, we will always carry you in our hearts.
Love always - your family and friends
(I knew I loved you before I met you.  I carry your heart.  I carry your heart in my heart - Love always - Mum)
