My Story

PINTO John P. Sr, of West Milford, formerly of Hackensack, died on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the age of 83 years. Prior to his retirement in 1981, John worked for the City of Hackensack Fire Department for 32 years, where he ultimately reached the rank of Deputy Fire Chief. After his retirement from the Fire Department, John continued working at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home of Hackensack for 22 years. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the I.A.F.F, a member and Past Grand Knight of Trinity Council # 747, the Bishop O'Connor General Assembly 4th Degree of Hackensack, the Showtime Group at Bergen Catholic High School, and a member of the Jet Set Club of West Milford. He was a parishioner of Queen of Peace R.C. Church in Hewitt and St. Francis R.C. Church in Hackensack, where he was a member of their Holy Name Society. Beloved husband of Frances (nee Carlo) and the late Ida (nee Blondina) (1987). Loving father of John P. Pinto Jr. and his wife Linda, Andrea Bernson, Gina Schlegel and her husband Joe, Larry Carlo and his wife Sandy, Linda Wilson and her husband Bob, Joann Erkal and her husband Al and John Carlo and his wife Maureen. Cherished grandfather of Aria, Joseph, John Francis, Thomas, Nicole, Deniz, Ronee, Ceyda, Shannen, Samantha and Anthony. Adored great-grandfather of Kai. Dearest brother of the late Ralph Pinto and Joseph Pinto. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many other close relatives and friends.
