Trooper Kyle W. Deatherage, age 32 of Highland, IL, died Monday, November 26, 2012, at Raymond, IL.
Trooper Deatherage was killed in the line of duty while making a traffic stop by a passing big rig. It was his first day back on duty in Illinois after lending a helping hand in Union Beach, New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy.
He was born on Friday, April 11, 1980, in Maryville, IL, the son of Barry W, Sr. of Aviston, Illinois and April Kay (nee Karpowicz) Deatherage of Marine, Illinois.
On Saturday, September 16, 2006, he married Sarah A. Deatherage (nee Gregory) who survives .
He was a member of First Congregational Church, Highland, IL and the FOP 43 - Springfield, IL.
Kyle was born in Maryville, Illinois; as a youth, he lived in Collinsville, Illinois; he moved with his family to St. Jacob, Illinois in 1990. He graduated from Triad High School in 1998; received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice at Lewis & Clark College. He worked for Trucks Centers in Troy. He began his career in law enforcement for Staunton Police Department. He worked for Madison County Sheriff Office from 7/7/2004 to 5/28/2009. On May 31, 2009, he became a Illinois State Trooper. He became a Motor Officer in September of 2012, working out of District 18. He enjoyed fishing, hunting (turkey, deer and birds). He loved his children so very much. He enjoyed time with close friends and officers from the departments he worked with.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will begin at 4:30 PM on Friday, November 30, 2012, at Triad High School in Troy, IL, and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, on Saturday, December 01, 2012, at Triad High School in Troy, IL.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 01, 2012, at Triad High School in Troy, IL.
Interment will be at Marine Cemetery in Marine, IL.
